My new ZEEFLY solarengine will use a voltage-based activation circuit. That means the circuit watches the volts stored in the capacitor to determine when to activate.BEAM robotics is a family of electronic circuits that will let you convert the weak power output of a solar cell to drive the load of a small robot.

A solarengine stores the trickle of power from the solar cell ,and releases it in bursts of usable energy. That means you have to wait a while until the power stores up to that usable level,but at least you're getting some movement when it would be impossible without the solarengine.
